Join us to celebrate the launch of Matthew Wong Foreman’s SUNSET AT LION ROCK with readings by Sheung-King, Nelly Reifler, and Bee Hyland.

Matthew Wong Foreman is a Hong Kong-born writer. He read history and philosophy in Hong Kong then Oxford before completing a PhD at Northwestern University in the United States, where he taught history and writing. His debut novel, Sunset at Lion Rock, was published in 2024 (Proverse, The Chinese University of Hong Kong Press). A North American edition was released by 7.13 Books in 2026. His non-fiction monograph, To Mix or Not to Mix: The Making of the Chinese Race, 1895-1949, is scheduled to be published by Brill in early 2027. 

Sheung-King is the pen name of Aaron Tang, a Canadian writer whose novel Batshit Seven was the winner of the 2024 Atwood Gibson Writers' Trust Fiction Prize. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Tang lived in both Canada and Hong Kong before moving to Toronto, Ontario. His first novel, You Are Eating an Orange.

Nelly Reifler is the author of See Through: Stories (Simon and Schuster) and a novel, Elect H. Mouse State Judge (FSG). Her work has appeared in McSweeney’s, BOMB, Electric Literature, Story, and Guernica among others.

Bee Hyland is a New York-based fiction writer. A 2026 graduate of the Clarion Writers’ Workshop, they also hold an MFA in speculative fiction from Sarah Lawrence College. Bee’s work can be found in publications such as: Beneath Ceaseless Skies, the Penn Review, and in their collection “Ethical Necromancy.” For more, see http://beehyland.com
